Going back to the exhibition season, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis has been gutting it out while dealing with a lower back ailment.
He has aggravated it multiple times, but he has missed only one of the team’s eight regular-season games.
Overall, Davis has been playing very well, averaging 23 points on 52.4% shooting, 11 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 2.3 blocked shots per game.
Understandably, fans have been wondering about his status from game to game; he has consistently been listed on the Lakers’ injury report. But he said his back has been getting better and he plans on playing in the upcoming back-to-back against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Utah Jazz.

“Each day I’m progressing. Each day I’m getting better, back is getting better each and every day. It felt pretty good last night. It felt pretty good whenever we played New Orleans, and I only expect that it will feel even better tomorrow.”
The superstar big man was dominant in the first half of Friday’s game against the Jazz, putting up 20 points, but he mustered just two points in the second half of a 130-116 loss.
Davis admitted he needs to demand the ball more consistently, and indeed, continuing to get dominant play from him will be a big key in the Lakers turning things around from a 2-6 start.
