Antetokounmpo Gets Positive Injury Update After All-Star Exit

Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo checked out of the All-Star Game after scoring the opening basket of the evening and did not return to the floor. A wrist injury prevented Milwaukee's superstar from participating in any of the NBA All-Star Weekend activities, and it was reported that Antetokounmpo underwent further testing on the ailment in New York on Monday.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the tests done on Antetokounmpo’s wrist indicated he's avoided any serious damage. Charania reports the Bucks could be without their former MVP for a few games down the stretch, but ultimately, Antetokounmpo appears to have dodged a significant injury.

Antetokounmpo was one of the two captains for the All-Star Game. After drafting his team, the Bucks star committed a foul after scoring the first basket of the game and checked himself out of the contest. The 28-year-old also missed the skills competition, getting replaced on Team Antetokounmpo by teammate and fellow All-Star Jrue Holiday.

The injury occurred during the Bucks' final game before the All-Star break. During the second quarter against the Bulls on Feb. 16, Antetokounmpo hurt his wrist after attempting to block a shot from Coby White and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Antetokounmpo was described as having a right wrist sprain, and per Charania's report, the additional tests didn't reveal anything overly concerning.

Milwaukee entered the All-Star Break as the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, narrowly trailing the Celtics. The Bucks host the Heat and the Suns in their first two games after the break, followed by matchups against the Nets, Magic, and 76ers.
