Ant Middleton dunked crying daughter Priseis, 3, in freezing water to build character

Ant Middleton has caused more controversy after admitting he plunged his terrified three-year-old daughter into a freezing pool to toughen her up.

The SAS: Who Dares Wins chief instructor, 39, forced cute Priseis and two of her young siblings to take a sub-zero dip to improve “mental resilience”.

The TV hard man said other parents were horrified by his character-building technique but he has no regrets.

Ant was reduced to making a groveling apology after recording misleading clips about the coronavirus pandemic.

The ex-special forces soldier ranted online that COVID-19 "won’t affect him" before claiming he would carry on as normal as he was too "strong" to be affected by the virus.

Now he has opened up about the day he took his kids for a swim they really didn’t want.

He told the Rachel Botsman’s Trust Issues podcast: “I was on holiday and the swimming pool was absolutely freezing.

“My 10-year-old son and three-year-old daughter ran past and I grabbed hold of their legs.

“They knew the pool was really, really cold and my three-year-old daughter started crying.

“She didn’t want to go in. So I grabbed her, put her in the water and held her there. You should have seen some of the parents’ faces.

“She kicks off and goes mad and then all of a sudden she calms down and jumps on her brother’s back. I then slipped off out the pool and they were playing in there for hours.”

He added: “That’s just a prime example of how people are now not teaching mental resilience or any type of resilience to their children.”

The military man has been forced into a public climb down after ignoring medical advice during the world crisis.

He deleted clips suggesting he was living life as normal and said he “took ownership” of his mistakes after severe backlash.

In a piece to camera, Ant admitted he was being "insensitive" about the killer bug and he said he had misjudged the "scale of the crisis" going on in the UK.

He said: "Now I've come out of this bubble I realised I've been a bit insensitive to the magnitude the scale of the crisis happening.

"It's forever changing situation and advice being given take down my previous post some of the advice I give now goes against government advice. I've taken them down and admit I made a mistake."
