Ant and Dec win Best Presenter NTA for 21st time as Stephen Mulhern 'rips up' winners' speech

While they couldn’t be there to collect the award, Ant and Dec did it again at the National Televison Awards on Thursday night, winning the Best Presentee accolade for an incredible 21st time. And, while he should have been collecting on their behalf, Stephen Mulhern ripped up the lads' acceptance speech.

For the last two decades, no one other than the Geordie duo has won the coveted award, with Ant and Dec seeing off completion from the likes of Dermot O’Leary, Davina McCall and Phillip Schofield over the years.

This year, the I’m A Celebrity hosts beat rivals Alison Hammond, Bradley Walsh and Graham Norton to triumph at the NTAs once again once again. Sadly, the lads weren’t at the London event to collect their prize on the winners’ rostrum, unable to be part of the 12,000 strong arena crowd due to testing positive for Covid.

It was down to Stephen Mulhern to accept the award on their behalf, after Danny Miller had fired a dig at him earlier on in the show. Stephen got a bit of paper out of his pocket, revealing that Ant and Dec had given him 'some words' to read out, but then ripped it up, saying: "I'm not doing any of that drivel."

Back tracking, the In for A Penny star added: "Full respect to the guys, 21 years on the trot, come on!"

Ant and Dec delivered an update on their 'sudden illness' on Wednesday evening, after having to pull out of hosting a Britain’s Got Talent special earlier this week. . Sharing a photo of two positive lateral flow tests on social media, they wrote: “Sadly it's true, we even get ill together! After feeling unwell a few days ago, we both tested and we're positive for Covid.

“We're resting up at home and are sorry that we can't be at the @officialntas. Best of luck everyone and get well soon to everyone else in the same boat."
