Ant and Dec throw support behind Stephen Mulhern after big announcement

Ant and Dec have thrown their support behind their Saturday Night Takeaway Stephen Mulhern after he shared some big TV news of his own.

Before last weekend, Stephen had been missing in action from the lads' hit ITV show, having told fans he'd taken a break 'on doctor's orders,' having been in hospital with a still undisclosed illness. He received a hero's welcome when he made his comeback during the March 26 episode to host a game of Ant vs Dec.

After joining Ant and Dec on stage, he told them he hadn't been well, while also thanking all those viewers who'd sent him well wishes. And now, following his Saturday Night Takeaway return, Stephen took to social media to reveal that his own show In For A Penny is returning for a new series.

In For A Penny started life as a segment on Takeaway, but was given a break out show after proving a big hit with viewers. So fans were delighted when Stephen tweeted about it coming back.

Posting on Twitter, he said: "Diaries out, cancel your plans! Just one week to go until the brand new series of #InForAPenny starts on @itv." Ant and Dec shared the news on their own Twitter timeline, adding: "Make way for Mullerz!! #InForAPenny returns Saturday 9th April 6.30pm."

Reacting to the post, a day after Ant announced that this week's Saturday Night Takeaway will be the final one of the series, one fan replied: "Nice post-birthday treat for me - both #InForAPenny and #SaturdayNightTakeaway in one night! Mind you, sort of bittersweet as well, given it's the SNT finale."

A second responded: "He’s so funny. Hope I never get stopped as I’d wet myself , I know I would"
