Ant and Dec share ‘genuine panic’ as Alison Hammond nearly ruined Saturday Night Takeaway

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have given Saturday Night Takeaway fans an insight into one of their pranks on the upcoming series of the ITV hit show.

The Geordie duo are returning to screens this weekend with a fresh instalment of the long-running series giving ITV viewers the happiest ninety minutes of the week.

The latest series of the cheeky show will see cameos from the nation's favourite PE teacher Joe Wicks and Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman – as well as Alison Hammond and Rylan as the next unwitting victims of their very own Undercovers.

Ant and Dec appeared on Thursday evening’s The One Show ahead of the first episode this weekend and viewers got a first look clip at This Morning star Alison’s upcoming prank.

The clip showed Alison enter a creepy-looking hotel, while Ant and Dec lurk in a secret room on the premises to carry out the prank.

However, Alison was immediately put off by the place, as she dubbed it ‘haunted’ in the foyer and was then seen in a guest room saying: “A million percent I'm not staying here.”

In later scenes in the haunted hotel, complete with eerie dolls along the walls, Alison said: “This place is haunted. I feel it. I have an affinity with spirits.”

In the BBC One studio after the clip played, Ant admitted: “I actually feel a bit sorry for her watching that.”

Dec then said the prank very nearly went ‘absolutely haywire’ (BBC)

Dec then said the prank very nearly went ‘absolutely haywire’, explaining: “She got as far as reception and said I'm not staying here. This place is too spooky. We've set the whole place up, and got hidden cameras everywhere.”

Ant added: “We had to ring the plant, which was the producer from This Morning and get her into the restaurant for a drink at least.

“We then had to ring the driver and just get him away so she didn't have a car to go to. We had to do anything we could to keep her there.”

Dec then teased: “That is the one that very nearly didn't happen. It's the closest to falling apart,” as Ant added: “There's genuine panic on our faces.”

Saturday Night Takeaway returns this weekend (ITV)

As Saturday Night Takeaway returns, fans can also expect favourite segments including Ring My Bell, Singalong Live and Win the Ads and there are some brilliant End of the Show Shows planned throughout the series run.

Stephen Mulhern, Fleur East, Jordan North and Andi Peters will all help hosts Ant and Dec out throughout the series once again, with Stephen putting the boys through a brand new set of high octane Ant vs Dec challenges.
