Ant and Dec reunite with BGT star from 17 years ago and she looks 'unrecognisable'

Ant and Dec recently caught up with one of the first ever Britain's Got Talent stars, 17 years on from her appearance on the show.

Connie Talbot, now 22, was just six years old when she blew the judges and audience away on the first ever series of the show. Performing Over The Rainbow, the youngster had never taken singing lessons before - but quickly captivated viewers.

Now the Geordie presenting duo have been reunited with the singer again as they all appeared on Heart Breakfast with Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston.

The Mirror reports that Amanda - who was on the judging panel when Connie auditioned - kicked off the conversation, as Dec remarked: "Look at her little picture!"

"How are you doing Connie? Are you still performing?" Ant asked the singer during their on-air reunion.

Connie replied: "I’m good, really really good. I am, I’m an independent artist now and doing new music, got an EP coming up in April."

Amanda chimed in to say "that's exciting" before adding: "She’s got an absolutely stunning voice and you still look like you looked."

The three stars laughed as Connie replied: "I got my fringe done on Tuesday!"

The presenter then asked if Connie was on the first ever series of Britain's Got Talent, to which Amanda replied: "First ever series where none of us knew what we were doing apart from Connie."

Ant chimed in: "I wasn’t sure the show was ever going to work and then Connie turned up and other people like Paul Potts and we went “god we’ve got a show here!” Britain has Got Talent! At that point we all thought there was a question mark, Britain’s Got Talent?"

"I tell you what Connie, I’m thrilled you’re still singing!" Jamie quipped when speaking to the young star.

The youngster released an album entitled Over The Rainbow shortly after she found fame on the show, which sold over 250,000. She also released a Christmas album in 2007.

The Britain's Got Talent finalist previously looked back on her time on the show during an appearance on Loose Women.

She admitted she hadn’t been "upset" when Paul beat her to be crowned the first ever winner of the series, particularly when then-judge Piers Morgan hailed her "the best six-year-old singer" he had ever seen.

Connie went on it say she finds it embarrassing watching her performances back, saying: "I was like ‘oh, God, don’t show that’.

"When I hear that chipmunk voice … I sounded like a chipmunk.

"I think I was too little – I just wanted to go on the show and I just kept saying I want a good show for Simon, it was the first time.

"I wasn’t upset by it at all."
