Ant and Dec have celebrated Newcastle booking a trip to Wembley with a typically Geordie reaction that echoed the sentiments of every other United fan, after telling fans hours earlier that they 'wish' they could have been at the big game.
Ever since there were young TV stars on Byker Grove, Ant and Dec have been regulars at St James' Park, getting to matches wherever they can. They were memorably in the stands for United's first home match after the much celebrated takeover in 2021, with Dec then spotted at Craven Cottage to see Newcastle beat Fulham 4-1 earlier this season.
Unfortunately for the boys, the Magpies' crunch game against Southampton on Tuesday night clashed with their Britain's Got Talent commitments, meaning they didn't get to take their place in the SJP stands to witness an incredible atmosphere under the lights and see local DJ Schak get the evening off to a great start with a pitch side set.

After the sides were greeted to a wall of sound and a sea of black and white flags and scarves, Sean Longstaff got NUFC off to a great start, before putting tie almost out of reach for the Saints with a second. The away side did pull one back before the break, but it wasn't enough, with the final whistle sparking wild celebrations amongst the Geordie faithful.
In the hours leading up to kick off, Ant and Dec shared a post from Wor Flags, showcasing the epic SJP buzz under the lights. Confirming they wouldn't be there in the flesh, the lads wrote: "Have an amazing night lads and lasses, wish we could be there. Howay The Lads!"
And rhen, after the final whistle blew, they echoed the chants that were ringing around the ground, when they tweeted: "Tell me Ma, me Ma…" and took great delight in getting to use #Wemley #Newcastle #CupFinal to accompany their post.
Their tweet got a wealth of replies, with a fellow United fan telling them: "You won't be home for tea? Can't believe they're in a final! and another tweeting: ""Grab us a ticket please lads"
