Ant and Dec make big announcement about I'm A Celebrity South Africa

Ant and Dec have revealed names of stars who will be taking part in the upcoming I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! spin-off. They made the announcement during Saturday Night Takeaway.

The new spin-off was revealed last year in an Instagram post by the popular presenting duo. At the time, they confirmed that the new iteration - which has been pre-recorded - would be welcoming back stars from the original show's past and would be filmed in an all new location, reports the Mirror.

I'm A Celebrity has been running since 2002 and would usually be filmed in Australia. Alongside the spin-off, there will also be a new series of the regular edition later this year.

But who is be taking part in the spin-off, where is it filmed and when can you watch it? Here's everything you need to know.

Who's in the line-up?

Ant and Dec have confirmed the first nine celebrities who will be taking part - they did so on Saturday Night Takeaway recently. It has been reported more contestants will be revealed soon as part of the big-name line-up.

Those nine stars are Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder; boxer Amir Khan; Olympian Fatima Whitbread; ex-cricketer Phil Tufnell; former Coronation Street actor Helen Flanagan; TV presenter Carol Vorderman; Diversity dancer Jordan Banjo; supermodel Janice Dickinson; and former royal butler Paul Burrell.

They will compete with each other to be the first I'm A Celebrity Legend. There will be no public vote.

Where's the new series filmed?

While the normal version of I'm A Celebrity films in Australia, the spin-off has already been shot in South Africa. The series takes place at Kruger National Park - where many international versions of I'm A Celebrity are filmed.

The news was first announced when Ant and Dec posted a video to Twitter last year. In the video, Dec said: "Hello everybody, we've got news for you. It's probably the worst kept secret in television but we can confirm we are doing a very special series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! in South Africa."

When does it air?

ITV has confirmed that I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! South Africa will begin airing from April this year. It is expected to start once the current series of Saturday Night Takeaway ends.
