Ant and Dec announce I'm A Celeb will return to Australia after 2 years in Wales

Ant and Dec are looking forward to I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here returning to Australia later this year.

The star-studded reality TV show has been forced to film in Wales for the past two years, due to the impact of the Covid-19 and international travel restrictions.

Chatting on The One Show on Thursday night, the ITV show's hosts confessed that the plan is to return to the jungle once again when the 22nd series airs towards the end of this year.

"Now then, I'm A Celebrity, let's go there, because Austrailia are reopening their borders from Monday, aren't they?" host Alex Jones asked the presenters during their chat.

"So is it the castle, or is it the jungle?"

"Well the plan is the jungle," Ant revealed on the BBC show.

"Nothing against Wales," Dec quickly chimed in with, joking that Welsh presenter Alex had given him "quite a stare".

"We love Wales," Ant continued.

"But you know, Australia is [I'm A Celeb's] home and we'd like to get back there - and we can!"

Alex added that having the ITV show in Wales has been "good for a couple of years" but it was time for a return to the jungle.

"That's what we're hoping for, touch wood," an optimistic Dec stated, as Rylan joked the pair are "looking forward to the holiday".

"You get a much better tan in New South Wales than you do Wales," a laughing Ant quipped.

After Covid-19 spread across the globe and made international travel a logistical nightmare, for the first time in the show's history, I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! swapped Australia for North Wales in 2020.

With a brand new location, and a collection of new famous faces as the debut castle residents, the 20th series attracted an average of 11.05 million viewers, as a nation in lockdown tuned in to see the likes of Jordan North and Vernon Kay get to grips with castle life.

The following year, the ITV show was forced once again to give international travel a miss - returning once again to the Welsh castle, where Danny Miller was crowned the new King.

Alongside chatting about all things I'm A Celeb, Ant and Dec popped into The One Show studio's on Thursday night to promote the new series of Saturday Night Takeaway.

The multi award-winning show returns to ITV and ITV Hub this weekend, and the cheeky duo are promising things will be even bigger and better than previous series.

Chatting with Rylan and Alex on The One Show sofa, Ant and Dec revealed the return of a live studio audience is something that excites them about the new series.

Saturday Night Takeaway's pending return comes just weeks after it was confirmed the Geordie pair's gameshow Limitless Win will be getting a second series, despite fans branding it 'complicated'.

While Limitless Win may have divided some viewers, there's no doubt that Saturday Night Takeaway will be a undisputed massive hit with all fans when it returns this weekend.

The primetime TV show has been one of the most consistent ratings winners of the last 20 years for ITV and won multiple awards during its time on air.

*The One Show airs weeknights at 7PM on BBC One.
