One more confirmed monkeypox infection has been reported, this time in Bangkok, raising the total number of cases detected in Thailand to 11.

Thares Krasanairawiwong, acting director-general of the Department of Disease Control, said on Monday the latest patient was a masseur, 40, who arrived back in Bangkok from Qatar on Saturday.

He first showed symptoms on Oct 8 while he was still in the Middle East country, Dr Thares said.

The patient visited a private hospital in Pathum Thani the day he arrived back and was transferred to the Bamrasnaradura Infectious Disease Institute after preliminary tests showed he had the disease.

Department deputy director-general Sophon Iamsirithaworn said the 10 previous cases detected in Thailand had fully recovered.
