I don’t know what’s in the sauce for 2025’s Married At First Sight (MAFS), but the producers truly served when the cast not just one, but two couples who romantically knew each other BEFORE the show and we’re eating it all up!

WOOF! What a first week, amirite?
We had a runaway groom, a potential second runaway groom and now, two MAFS couples who’ve dated before jumping on the experiment.
ICYMI, one of the first couples we were introduced to was Carina Mirabile and Paul Antoine, who were revealed to have dated eight months before they were unexpectedly matched by the experts.
And now, to finish off Week One, we’ve got Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels, who also dated before the experiment. But unlike Carina and Paul, their reunion seemed quite wholesome.
You see, as soon as Rhi walked down the aisle, the unlikely pair burst into laughter, realising what they’d gotten themselves into.
Some of the guests clocked that the pair had previously dated, with some joking that at least Rhi didn’t get matched with a dud.
In separate voxxies, Rhi and Jeff recalled their short-lived relationship, revealing that they went on a couple of dates, including a cheeky half marathon run.
And unlike Carina and Paul — which ended as a result of ghosting — Rhi and Jeff ended up becoming friends and had coffee since their last couple of dates.
With the pair knowing each other, both Rhi and Jeff made jokes in their vows, having to amend a lot of what they wrote since they’re not technically marrying at first sight.
LOOK, at least the first week has seemingly ended on a wholesome note for our new couples!

Did Married At First Sight producers purposely match exes together?
In a cheeky tea spill to PEDESTRIAN.TV, MAFS Alexandra Spurway and John Walsh said Season 12 was “the first time ever, people have met before”.
“It’s interesting that it’s taken this long for it to happen,” Alexandra dished.
I think this just proves that maybe Australia’s dating pool is truly in the toilet OR everyone is running away from the trenches dating apps and joining reality TV shows as a last shot at love.
That being said, I have ‘yuge hopes for Rhi and Jeff.
