Tuesday’s practice for the Jets got pretty ugly. The temperature was very high and ultimately, so were the tempers.
Not one, but two scuffles occurred, with punches being thrown, breaking one of head coach Robert Saleh’ rules he mentioned recently.
One scuffle involved defensive lineman Tanzel Smart. The other seemed to get really ugly and involved WR Denzel Mims, who has been the subject of trade speculation in recent weeks. Mims was having a very good day at practice Tuesday, but it became overshadowed a bit by the fight with a defensive back.

As we know, training camps are tough. You’re hitting the same guys over and over again for weeks in hot weather. Tempers will flare and eventually reach a boiling point. Of course, we’ve now seen that quite a bit with the Jets.
Fortunately, the Jets have just three days left until they get the chance to hit people other than their own teammates, when they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles.
