Another 150 new homes could be built as part of new Cribbs Causeway development

Another 150 more homes look set to be built as part of a new development on the outskirts of Bristol near Cribbs Causeway. Housebuilder Bellway has submitted plans for the second phase of its Berwick Green development, which is located just off the A4018, as you travel from Henbury to Cribbs Causeway.

The first phase of the development, which includes plans for 256 homes, is already under construction and the first properties are due to go on sale later this year. Now the company is seeking planning permission for the second phase of the development, which would see a further 153 homes built.

Tim Lund, sales director for Bellway South West, said: “Submitting our plans for phase two of Berwick Green is an important moment in this significant project. The land purchase for Berwick Green was the largest ever made by our South West division and forms a cornerstone of our commitment to helping meet the local demand for homes.

"Seeing through this planning application will enable us to take the next steps in this scheme. We are sure the development will be popular as we are offering a wide variety of home styles and the location offers so much in terms of its proximity to the shops and leisure facilities at The Mall at Cribbs Causeway, its close links to Bristol city centre and its easy access to the M5, less than a mile away.

“And the wider project our development is part of, will bring significant further investment to the area, with more than £12 million being pumped into local services as part of the developer contributions. Working alongside our partners at Taylor Wimpey, we will deliver hundreds of quality homes for the area.

Work on Bellway’s first phase at Berwick Green is already under way and the development will feature a mix of 192 two, three and four-bedroom houses and two-bedroom apartments for private sale, alongside 64 affordable homes available for local people through rent or shared ownership. Phase two of the development is proposed to include a further 112 private properties and 41 affordable homes.
