Another 149 new homes for large Edwalton development

Rushcliffe Borough Council has approved plans for a further 149 homes in Edwalton. The plans were submitted by Vistry Homes and John A Wells Ltd for Phase 8 of the housing development on land at Sharp Hill Wood, Melton Road.

Plans for the phase were initially submitted in April 2021, with revised plans being submitted in March 2022 for the 34.8 hectares of land. Each of the dwellings will have ducting to enable the connection of high speed fibre optic broadband, and the site will also have charging points for electric vehicles.

The new dwellings will include a range of bungalows, flats, and two to four bedroom houses. A selection of new properties will be affordable housing, including affordable rent, social rent and intermediate properties.

The ever expanding housing estate in Edwalton has already proved popular with its residents, many of who are enjoying the sense of community and being nearby to West Bridgford and Nottingham.

A Rushcliffe Borough Council spokesperson said: “Phase eight is the final phase of the housing element of the development, was identified in the Rushcliffe Local Plan Part 1 Core Strategy and adopted in December 2014. Outline planning permission for the wider development was granted in September 2018.

“This latest planning application was submitted with details of 149 dwellings for the northern part of the site and these reserved matters were approved by the Council on June 7.”
