'Announce Tielemans and Martinez!' - Arsenal's next two transfers decided after £45m deal struck

Gabriel Jesus became Arsenal's fourth summer signing when his £45m move from Manchester City was confirmed on Monday morning, but some supporters are already clamouring for an announcement regarding a fifth new arrival.

Prior to the Brazilian being officially unveiled, given a tour of the Emirates Stadium, meeting his new teammates at London Colney and being handed the number 9 shirt - recently vacated by Alexandre Lacazette - the Gunners had completed deals for Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira and Matt Turner.

Then first thing on Monday (July 4) Arsenal confirmed the signing of Gabriel Jesus in a deal that has not only delighted manager Mikel Arteta, but technical director Edu too: "I'm very excited," the Spaniard said. "The club has done a tremendous job to recruit a player of this stature.

"I know Gabriel personally very well, and we all know him well from his time in the Premier League and being really successful here. This is a position that’s been on our radar for a long time now and we have managed to get a player that we all wanted, so I’m really happy."

Meanwhile, Edu - said to have been instrumental in this deal getting over the line - added: "We are delighted that we have secured the transfer of Gabriel. Everyone who knows football well, knows the qualities of Gabriel Jesus. Gabriel is a player who we have admired for a long time now.

"He is 25 years old and an established Brazil international who has consistently demonstrated that he is a player at a very high level. We look forward to seeing him join up with his new teammates ahead of the new season. We all welcome Gabriel to Arsenal.”

Despite the Gunners being one of the most active clubs in the Premier League clubs this summer, confirming the signing of Gabriel Jesus has prompted some supporters to demand another transfer in the coming weeks. In fact, many have decided what deal Arteta and Edu should look to complete next.

Amid links to the likes of Youri Tielemans, Lisandro Martinez and Raphinha, a simple three-word reply to the Gabriel Jesus announcement tweet shows who some Arsenal supporters are hopeful of joining the club in the very near future as @Mohamme67427296 said: "Announce Martinez also", to which @Dmatterarising and @arungooner5 agreed with as they said: "Announce Lisandro Martinez next!" and "Announce Lisandro", respectively.

Although others have another transfer target in mind. "Announce Youri Tielemans" was @jacob_jimy's comment, @AfcBanks echoed similar: "announce Tielemans", @DKAFC4 is calling for a double deal: "Announce Tielemans & Martinez", and @DezoWilson has gone one better: "Pls Sign Tielemans and LB and another Striker."

It remains to be seen if these Arsenal supporters get their wish for either player. With that said, it has been reported that personal terms with Tielemans have already been agreed, whilst they remain in the hunt to sign Martinez, who is also a priority signing for new Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag.
