Annette Bening's Ultimate Prize: Balancing Motherhood And Oscar Nominations

96th Oscars Nominations in Beverly Hills

Annette Bening, a renowned actress who may be nominated for an Oscar, has always cherished motherhood as her ultimate reward. In a recent interview on the Today Show, Bening, 65, expressed her admiration for her 95-year-old mother, whom she has always looked up to. Reflecting on her journey as a mother, Bening shared, 'I always wanted to be a mom, from when I was a little kid. I wasn't perfect, but I did my best, especially while juggling work responsibilities.'

Bening's desire to become a parent stemmed from her upbringing, as she was the neighborhood kid who enjoyed babysitting and caring for young ones. In 1992, she married Warren Beatty, and together they welcomed four children: Stephen in 1992, Benjamin in 1994, Isabel in 1997, and Ella in 2000. Bening fondly recalled a moment when she was heavily pregnant during the 2000 Oscars, where Beatty received an award. The adrenaline of the event caused her unborn child to move vigorously, creating a memorable experience.

This year, Bening is once again nominated for an Academy Award for her role in the movie 'Nyad,' where she portrays the determined Diana Nyad. The film depicts Nyad's journey from a marathon swimmer to a sports journalist and her later quest to swim a 110-mile route from Cuba to Florida in her 60s. This marks Bening's fourth Oscar nomination, yet she has yet to win the coveted trophy. She faces tough competition from other talented actresses in her category.
