Annan pub has double awards celebration

Double celebrations are under way at Annan’s Blue Bell Inn.

Mine hosts Charmaine Kerr and Mike Lindsay are thrilled to have won the Dumfriesshire area’s Campaign for Real Ale pub of the year award – for the fourth time.

The Blue Bell was also named as CAMRA’s cider pub of the year for the Dumfries and Stewartry area.

The double honour is all the sweeter because it was decided by real ale fans who, as CAMRA members, get to vote for their favourite independent pub.

The duo have thanked their staff and customers for the support, saying they are “absolutely delighted” with the awards, which will again take pride of place in the bar.

In a joint statement, they said: “We are delighted to again be awarded CAMRA Area Pub Of The Year 2023.

“It is great recognition for our team’s hard work and we will continue to provide quality ales and cider.”

The pub, which is famed for its real ale and has its own micro-brewery in the cellar, is hosting a cider festival on May 28 and a beer festival on August 26 and 27.
