Annan Athletic boss warns players that Kelty Hearts will be out for revenge

Manager Peter Murphy has warned his Annan team that title favourites Kelty Hearts will be like a wounded animal in tomorrow’s clash.

The League Two front runners lost to Forfar last weekend and Murphy also reckons they will be thirsting for revenge against the Galabankies who inflicted the Fife side’s first league defeat of the season.

Murphy said: “It’s going to be a tough game again for us, especially on their patch.

“Kelty lost 1-0 at Forfar last weekend and their lead at the top has been cut.

“However, Kelty do have a game in hand and they beat Cowdenbeath .

“But it still means they will be hurting and they will want to get back at us for being the first team to beat them, so I am pretty sure they will be hurting over that too.”

Annan thumped Kelty 5-1 at Galabank earlier in the campaign and, after beating rivals Edinburgh City last weekend, Murphy insisted: “We are going there full of confidence.

“Hopefully the weather is good after the amount of rain we have had recently but it is that time of the year.

“But even in our Rangers game in the Scottish Cup, the weather was appalling and made for a tough time.”

Galabankies have a doubt over front man Iain Anderson but Murphy added: “Otherwise I have a full squad to pick from and hopefully Iain can make it but at the moment he is doubtful.”

Annan sit third in the table with 44 points from 25 matches and are just two behind second placed Forfar.

Kelty are at the summit with 55 points from 24 games.
