Anna Delvey has paid personal assistant in jail and is bombarded with kinky mail

Anna Delvey has claimed she has an assistant in jail and pays other inmates to do her laundry despite being sent down for fraud crimes and swindling money from friends, businesses and banks.

The 31-year-old Russian criminal – whose real name is Anna Sorokin – and even claims she receives fan mail by the sack load containing letters asking for her hand in marriage and from people offering to adopt her.

Anna was arrested in the USA 2017 and jailed in 2019 for a string of crimes including grand larceny after faking her way in to New York high society and conning people out of huge sums of cash.

Her criminal activity has been dramatised in the recent Netflix smash drama Inventing Anna which sees actress Julia Garner playing the Russian-German fraudster from the early stages of her criminal career up to and after her jailing.

Now Anna has sat down for a grilling from athlete turned interviewer Alexandra Cooper on her Call Her Daddy podcast where she has continued to carve out as glamorous life as she can while behind bars.

Explaining that her daily routine consists of waking up and sorting through bags of fan mail, Anna says: “I kind of wan up, like, they bring mail super early and I get all kinds of mail now. It’s just so crazy.

“I have people wanting to adopt me. I don’t, like, get any haters.”

Asked if she’s also received love letters, Anna confirms she has, saying: “Definitely more marriage proposals than I ever did before my criminal career started.”

Anna goes on to claim she has an assistant in jail who helps her with her mail and also with arranging access to electronic tablets to conduct online interviews.

She claims: “It’s like, if you have money, you don’t really have to do anything. It’s just like, I mean, just like you cannot do your laundry.

“You have to, like, hand wash it so you just pay somebody to do it… they actually think I’m, like, super rich.”

Asked how she can afford to pay people to do her laundry or, indeed, where the money is coming from, Anna appears to deflect.

She replied: “Well, they don’t care about that” – and then answered “Yeah” when asked if she was getting money from her bank account.

Elsewhere in her interview, Anna says she does not consider herself a con artist, and even says she would lend herself money as: “I felt like I would definitely go out of my way to pay somebody back.”

However, she was jailed for failing to pay back banks after getting loans after lying about having a $60 million (£45 million) trust fund.

Anna also opened up about her instantly recognisable accent as she says she is surprised fans of the Netflix show about her are now imitating her around the world.

She said: “Whenever Julia [Garner] is talking like me, but the first time I’m like ‘oh my gosh. Do I sound this insufferable?’ It’s just so weird.

“Like, hearing yourself is like the same when you just hear your voice being recorded. It is like totally different from the way you hear yourself when you speak.

“To everyone that thought it was fake… I mean, people just say so many things about me. I just don’t care. It’s just the way I speak.

“I don’t know. I never put on any accents. It’s just the way I talk. Did anybody ever hear me speak any different then? They should come up with the evidence who have accused me of that. I want to see the proof.”

Alexandra’s interview with Anna was recorded last week – however the fraudster was due to be deported from the USA back to Germany this week.
