Author Ann Cleeves has been reunited with her lost laptop after losing it in a blizzard on Monday.
Ann, whose books have been adapted into the television series Shetland, was on the remote Scottish archipelago on Monday when she realised that the computer had fallen out of her bag in Lerwick during heavy snow. The following day, The Scottish Government declared a major incident for Shetland on Tuesday after thousands of homes were left without power on Monday evening following significant snowfall.
The Whitley Bay-based crime author, who is best-known for the Vera series of novels, offered a reward for the laptop's return and told BBC Radio Scotland on Wednesday that people had been "amazingly kind" in aiming to get it back to her. It was eventually returned by a sharp-eyed Rachel."

And on Thursday evening, Ann shared a photo of her beaten-up HP laptop, which had a draft of her new novel on. Thankfully, she had backed that up so hasn't lost the work, and is now attempting to retrieve the rest of her hard drive - while a new laptop is on its way.
Ann shared a post on Twitter saying: "Here it is! Found in the snow not far from where I was staying by sharp-eyed Rachel as she got off the school bus. It’s been run over so not much use, but glad to know it’s safe."
Filming for further episodes of Vera recently took place in Corbridge, while Ann's novels about Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez were adapted into the BBC One crime drama Shetland. Ashley Jensen will now lead the cast following the departure of Douglas Henshall, who spent almost a decade playing Perez.
