Ankle injury to star half rocks Titans ahead of Raiders

An ankle injury at training to halfback Jayden Campbell has rocked Gold Coast ahead of their home clash with in-form Canberra.

The 25-year-old has been ruled out of Sunday's clash as the Titans sweat on scan results to determine the length of his absence.

Campbell has been the Titans' most consistent and best player in the opening rounds and, with veteran playmaker Kieran Foran (biceps) and former Wallabies No.10 Carter Gordon (back) both still on the injured list, the club is now skinny in the halves.

Rising half Tom Weaver, 22, has acquitted himself well when called upon and he will come into the squad to replace Campbell for the Sunday afternoon clash at Robina.

The Titans are also set to be without boom second-rower David Fifita (hamstring) after he had his best game of the season in the 38-16 loss to St George Illawarra.

Gold Coast do welcome captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui back from suspension and winger Jojo Fifita (cork) from a two-week absence.

"Our outside backs have been a bit depleted, hence why Beau Fermor has been filling in there the last fortnight, but it's good to get Jojo back and Tino brings a lot of go forward for our side,"  Titans coach Des Hasler said.

"The next four weeks after this weekend are away so it's very important that we're back home this weekend.

"We're against a Raiders side that are playing an uncompromising kind of footy so they'll be very tough."

The two club's form lines are heading in different directions. The Raiders have won their past two matches while the Titans have suffered consecutive losses

"The combination of (half Jamal Fogarty) and their forwards are laying a really good platform for the side, and they have a lot of genuine speed in their outside backs," Hasler said.

"They're constantly probing and always asking questions.

"They're very unconventional in the sense they've got great second phase mantra going, so it'll be a challenging game."
