Anita Baker will finish her tour alone after kicking Babyface out of the support act slot.
It comes after the singer was inundated with social media threats after "technical issues" led to Babyface being unable to perform at a previous gig.
Anita's team have promised refunds to anyone who was attending to see Babyface perform.
A statement on her Twitter page read: "After Silently, Enduring Cyber Bulling/Verbal Abuse & Threats of Violence from the Fan Base, of Our Special Guest/Support Act. In the Interest of Personal Safety. I will continue, The Songstress Tour, alone. Appropriate refunds will be made."
The decision was widely supported by her fans who took to the comments to voice their thoughts.
One user wrote: "We love Babyface but we came for YOU and will come either way! And I’m coming again before this tour is over."
Babyface later responded in sadness at the news explaining it is "unfortunate and disheartening to see how things have played out via social media".
He continued: "While I was looking forward to the rest of the dates, I have nothing but love & respect for Anita and I wish her the best for the remainder of her tour."
The ballad singer who took the industry by storm in the 1980s with tunes like Caught Up in the Rapture and Sweet Love dubbed Babyface's faces "Kenny's Crazies" - his real name is Kenneth Brian Edmonds.
It came after they hit out at her for apparently not letting him take to the stage at a previous gig as she wouldn't cut short her own set.
She tweeted on Monday: "Kenny's Crazies are online Bullies. @Babyface Please call off, your fans. I have been Only Kind and Supportive, of You, as the Special Guest/Support, on My Tour."
She had jibed earlier in the day: "Good Morning, to... Kenny's Crazies, who continue to Harrass [sic]."
It wasn't the first hit out on the social media platform either and followed her tweet last night which read: "As you can see... Some of his fans, are Not accepting of the Reality, that he is Contracted, as Special Guest/Support, on My Tour Some even want to hurt me... Crazyyyy. Town."
She had earlier moved to clarify that Babyface was actually just a special guest and support act on the tour despite the "false narrative".
Anita urged Babyface to "tell you guys the truth" in order to clear up the aggression she said she had been facing.
Babyface had been due to perform as the support act at a New Jersey concert last month but took to social media on the night to tell fans he had been asked not to take the stage.
