Amazon Games, Bandai Namco, and Bandai Online are bringing the anime MMO Blue Protocol to Europe, North America, Australia, and South America in the second half of 2023, Amazon announced during The Game Awards 2022. Blue Protocol will launch on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5, with a closed beta test planned for PC earlier in the year.
Amazon Games is also responsible for bringing Smilegate’s Lost Ark MMO to international audiences.
“Blue Protocol is a beautifully crafted game; it’s like an anime come to life,” Christoph Hartmann, VP of Amazon Games, said in a press release. “Bandai Namco Online has created a world of the highest quality with a compelling story that will build community and immerse players in an action-packed adventure. As anime continues to rise in popularity globally, we look forward to bringing Blue Protocol to players in the West next year.”
Blue Protocol follows a group of adventurers across the land of Regnas. Humanity’s overuse of technology has the world on the brink of utter destruction, which is where you step in, with your unique ability to combat the creatures plaguing the land step in – and unlock their memories in a bid to save the world.
At launch, Blue Protocol will feature five classes, ranging from the tank-like Foe Breaker to the all-’rounder Blade Warden class. Despite being billed as an MMO, Amazon said you can play Blue Protocol as a mostly single-player game as well, not unlike Phantasy Star Online 2, or you can join up to six other players to tackle its dungeons and trials.
