It's no secret that the West Country is full of beautiful coastlines to cool down at amid this week's soaring temperatures. But not all of our beaches are cared for as much as others, and one has now been listed as among the UK's worst.
A poll for consumer magazine Which? identified the ten worst seaside destinations, and Burnham-on-Sea was ranked in third place. Some scathing reviews have been left on Google, with many visitors slamming the area's sea.
Plenty would disagree, though, as Burnham has also recently been described as a "picturesque seaside village" with a "beautiful" coastline. However, one recent visitor wrote: "Beach and sea contaminated by sewage".

Another tourist penned: "Pretty gross not really a beach just a really dangerous mudflat over looking what looks like a power station". A third said: "Just grim".
But lots of people did enjoy their visit to the Somerset beach, and the spot actually gained 4.3 stars overall on Google. One happy tourist wrote: "It's a shame you need to have the tide in to show off the beauty of this beach. Its a great place to go - a proper old fashioned seaside resort."
Another said: "Lovely beach, not too busy but when the tide is out there are stretches of mud exposed that will suck you down. The sea is the Bristol channel so the water is muddy."
It takes 50 minutes to drive to the beach from Bristol for motorists heading down the M5. People can also catch a train from Temple Meads to Neva Road and hop on a bus for the last leg of the journey, this takes around 90 minutes.
