Rude images have appeared around potholes in a quiet country village. The crude phallus images appeared around two potholes in Otterton, Devon.
A witness contacted DevonLive to share photograph of the penis shaped potholes suggesting it was the work of 'fed up' locals. The witness said: "Spotted this today driving through Otterton near Budleigh Salterton, people must be getting fed up of potholes."
And, it's not the first time angry people have taken to the streets to paint crude images around potholes in order to pay attention to them. Dodgy daubings appeared in white spray paint on a road outside Uckfield College in East Sussex earlier this year.
Locals in East Sussex lost patience while waiting for the holey highway to be repaired - and the resulting crude phallus drawings attracted interest online. It also seemingly spurred authorities into action, with a work crew arriving on scene shortly after.
It is not currently known who is responsibly for the penis-shaped potholes in Otterton or when they appeared. Devon County Council has been approached for comment.
The issue of potholes has become a common complaint for many in the past year. The UK is more susceptible to potholes because of its climate, with cold and wet weather - especially during winter - meaning water can get into cracks in the road and then freeze, eventually leading to potholes.
The heavy road use and traffic on the UK's roads is also a factor, as is the tight budget many councils have to repair them.
