A woman said she was left "disappointed" after her freshly planted conifers were stolen from her garden. A neighbour, who lives just off Coleby Road, the Broxtowe estate, has described the shocking moment when she returned home only to discover her small trees were gone.
The resident, who wants to go by Charlotte, said she planted her three conifers on Monday morning (October 17). She left her house shortly after 5pm to go shopping.
When she returned home later that evening at around 5.36pm - her garden was a "mess". She said: "I have been working in the evening, and I only put them in the morning. I was home all day and had no problem whatsoever.
"I did not pay for the conifers - a friend gave them to me. But they are like £40, £50 each.
"I have only left to go shopping. When I was back the mess was everywhere.
"I followed the soil as far as I could down the street. But - no good is it?"
She went on and said: "I am disappointed really because you try and make things nice. And then this happens.
"No wonder society is going down because nobody is interested in their own surroundings. They are going to make a profit out of it or just use it in their own garden, or destroy it.
"If they have knocked on the door and asked for them, I would have given them to them. If you are more desperate than me, then yes.
"By all means take them, do not steal them. It is just pointless."
The heartbroken resident added: "I had two plants out there and I put a sign on to say 'house plants free to take'. I wonder if they were told to go get some plants and they just took a few extra as well. But my conifers were obviously not up for freebies."
Nottinghamshire Police has confirmed it received a report of this incident at 5.52pm, that trees were uprooted at the address. Investigations are ongoing.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police, referring to incident number 0541_17102022.
