A leading animal rescue charity has told how a horse was "left in a field to die" in Dublin.
The animal was discovered by a member of the public on Sunday evening, who then contacted My Lovely Horse charity.
The horse was "in difficulty" at Dunsink, a townland of Castleknock in Dublin, when it was found.

A spokesperson explained: "On Sunday evening, a kind member of the public got in contact with us after discovering a horse in difficulty at Dunsink.
"This poor horse was left to die until we stepped in & with the support of locals, had to have this poor pet PTS [put to sleep].
"RIP little one. You deserved more."
The charity asked the public to contact their local councillors and TDs and demand that issues with horses in the area are addressed immediately.
The sad scene is the latest in a number of incidents involving animal abuse.
Earlier this month, a cat was found decapitated in the capital.
A DSPCA inspector was called to a green area in Ballyboden, south Dublin, where a cat's body had been dumped.
The cat, a tabby and white female, had been decapitated and the head was not found at the scene.
DSPCA received a call from a member of the public alerting them to the body of a dog that had been dumped in the shed beside some apartments.
Upon inspection, they discovered that it had been decapitated.
