A man has spoken of his anger after a visit to a Nottingham car park. George Sergiou, 53, from Mapperley parked in the NCP Nottingham Mount Street car park at around 8.40pm on Saturday, May 14 before he headed to the nearby Laguna Tandoori on Mount Street.
But on arrival he found the lifts were broken, leading him to make a further discovery in the car park's stairwell. "We went to the Mount Street car park the NCP that is above the Casino on Maid Marian Way. There were no signs as you were going in to tell you there were no functioning lifts," said Mr Sergiou, who works in customer service.
"But we got in and there were no functioning lifts. They have two lifts and they were both out of service.

"To get down the stairs you had to walk over a makeshift bed make out of cardboard and polythene. And on the window sill there with syringe packets, a metal spoon, and a sort of beige or grey sugar type stuff.
"We go to the Laguna so we park in the car park a fair bit and there's often one lift broken. I'm a larger gentleman and I struggled to get up and down the stairs, the least they should of done was have signs up so you could make the decision based on that."
Mr Sergiou claimed he called into the car park's helpline to report the state of the stairs. He claims when that he returned to his car at 11.15pm nothing had changed.
"It's probably one of the most expensive car parks in Nottingham, it is not cheap," Mr Sergiou added.
"My wife says it smells like a public toilet too. I've heard that there are always youths playing in there, setting off alarms.
"I told them that there was no functioning lifts and about all the other stuff. We were in the Laguna for about three hours and when I came back they had done nothing."
An NCP spokesperson said they try and deal with any anti-social behaviour as quickly as possible and that issues are often caused by people who are not car park customers.
"We apologise for the experience our customer has reported, following their visit on Saturday evening," said the NCP spokesperson. "Potentially the signage for our lift closures had been removed by anti-social behaviour, we now have one lift working and we are currently waiting for some glass to be delivered to replace the missing part in the second lift.
"We work hard to try to ensure that customers are not witness to the debris that can occur when people enter our car park who are not customers. Normally our team will remove items like this immediately, and we apologise that this didn’t happen on this occasion, we understand our team was over on our other car park as there had been an event on and it was busy over there.
"We are working hard to counteract the anti-social behavioural issues that sites open to the public can experience, and we will look to see what else we can do to prevent this sort of incident occurring. We will also increase our patrols and continue to work very closely with the local Police who are extremely supportive to us on this issue."
