Angellica Bell could be ready to lift the lid on her dramatic exit from The Martin Lewis Money Show – and her husband, Michael Underwood, has just added fuel to the fire. He hinted that her stint on Celebrity Big Brother might be the moment fans finally get the full story.
The 49-year-old telly favourite, known for her children’s TV work and more recently for fronting daytime shows, was dropped from the ITV programme in 2023 after six years of working alongside money expert Martin Lewis. At the time, her departure raised a few eyebrows, especially given how tight-knit she and Martin appeared onscreen, reported the Express.
She had joined the BAFTA-nominated series back in 2017 and became a familiar face to viewers trying to make sense of their finances. But things took a turn when she started co-presenting a new consumer show called Shop Smart, Save Money. ITV apparently saw this as a clash, and just like that, she was out.
An ITV spokesperson insisted there was no bad blood, saying the split was “amicable” and they were still working with her on other shows. But the timing was questionable. According to ITV, the production team only realised Angellica’s new gig might be stepping on toes after it had already been announced in the media. By then, she’d already started filming.
Jeanette Kwakye, the former Olympian and broadcaster, stepped in as her replacement on The Martin Lewis Money Show Live – but fans weren’t quite ready to move on. Questions lingered about what went down behind the scenes.
Fast forward to now, and it looks like those questions might finally get answers. During a TikTok live on April 7, Michael was quizzed by fans about Angellica’s exit from the show. One fan asked the million-pound question: “Why did she stop working with Martin Lewis? I thought they were great together.” Michael’s response? Teasing but loaded: “It’s not for me to say but she might talk about it on Celebrity Big Brother.”
Whether she does or not, Michael’s backing his wife all the way. He marked Mother’s Day with a sweet post showing Angellica holding toy flowers, captioned: “I told you I’d get you some flowers. Happy Mother’s Day to the best mum our children could ever have.”
As for Angellica, she’s made quite the entrance in the CBB house, strutting in wearing a bright yellow mini dress and joining an eclectic cast of celebs – from JoJo Siwa and Patsy Palmer to Chesney Hawkes and even Mickey Rourke. With the cameras rolling 24/7, the truth about her TV past might just come out. Stay tuned.
