Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finally reached a divorce settlement, putting an end to one of the most protracted and contentious divorces in Hollywood history. The couple signed a default declaration in Los Angeles Superior Court, indicating that they have come to an agreement on their marital and property rights. The settlement, first reported by People magazine, marks a significant milestone in their long-standing legal battle.

Jolie's attorney, James Simon, stated that the divorce process began over eight years ago when Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. Since then, she has been focused on finding peace and healing for their family. The filing mentions that they have waived the right to any future spousal financial support, with further details yet to be disclosed. The agreement will need to be approved by a judge.

The high-profile couple, who were together for 12 years and married for two, share six children. Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, following an incident on a private jet where she alleged that Pitt had physically abused her and their children. Subsequent investigations by the FBI and child services did not lead to any charges against Pitt.

Despite being officially declared divorced in 2019, the division of assets and child custody remained unresolved. A private judge initially granted them equal custody of their children, but Jolie later sought to have him removed due to a conflict of interest. The couple had to restart the process, which has now culminated in the recent settlement.

While the divorce agreement settles some issues, a separate lawsuit filed by Pitt over Jolie's sale of their shared French winery remains ongoing. The couple's use of a private judge has kept most details of their divorce out of the public eye, with little information available on the proceedings.

Both Pitt and Jolie have largely refrained from discussing their split publicly, maintaining a low profile despite their continued success in the entertainment industry. Pitt, who acknowledged struggles with alcohol at the time of the divorce, has since sought therapy and sobriety. Jolie, known for her acting and directing work, has recently garnered attention for her portrayal of Maria Callas in the film 'Maria.'
