Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Finally Settle Their Divorce After 8 Long Years Of Legal Battles

The Hollywood divorce saga that’s lasted longer than most of our relationships has finally come to an end.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, the once-golden couple of Hollywood, have at last reached a settlement in their marathon divorce proceedings. Here are all the details.

The ink dried on Monday, December 30th and Jolie’s lawyers confirmed that the former couple had reached a settlement. “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt,” said Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon per abc News.

“She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family.”

Simon added, “Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

It all started back on September 19, 2016, when Jolie filed for divorce just days after a private plane incident where she alleged Pitt was abusive to her and their six children. While he was never charged by authorities and Jolie declined to press charges, it set off a legal battle.

Four months later, they announced they would handle their divorce in a private forum to keep things under wraps. “The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family,” read the statement obtained by PEOPLE

As negotiations dragged on, the couple found themselves locked in “strained” discussions over custody issues and trading accusations like they were playing hot potato with legal documents. In 2017, they agreed to seal any sensitive records that involve their kids Maddox (23), Pax (21), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18), and twins Vivienne and Knox (16).

Despite being declared legally single back in 2019, the battle over custody and assets continued like a never-ending sequel nobody asked for. And let’s not forget about Château Miraval — their $164 million French estate that’s became a real sticking point.

In February 2022, Pitt sued Jolie over her sale of her stake in Château Miraval, claiming she was “waging a vindictive war against” him. A source close to Pitt said this was just “the latest in a series of deliberate efforts to misdirect” the truth about their split.

Meanwhile, Jolie’s camp fired back with accusations of Pitt “masterminding a so-far-successful plan to seize control” of their beloved winery. And while they’ve made some progress in settling their divorce, the Château saga continues to unfold.

In November 2024, Jolie scored a legal win when a judge ordered Pitt to disclose documents that could potentially support her allegations of abuse against him.

As we finally close this chapter on this brutal breakup, it’s clear that both parties are ready to move on. A source close to Jolie remarked that she “doesn’t speak ill of [Pitt] publicly or privately”, per PEOPLE.

So there you have it! The Brangelina saga has come to an end—at least until they inevitably start dating again or someone else decides to write a tell-all book about it.
