TV star Angela Scanlon has said she thought Bridesmaids star Chris O'Dowd was “drunk as skunk” when he appeared on the first series of her chat show, Ask Me Anything.
The mum-of-two was recalling her favourite guests on the show, which returns for a second series this Saturday on Rte One.
She pointed out how the Roscommon man was one of her favourites last year when he appeared alongside The Corr’s Caroline Corr and Line of Duty star Martin Compston - but she thought O’Dowd was “drunk as a skunk” on her show.

Speaking to the 2 Johnnies on RTE 2FM, Angela said: “Chris O’Dowd - a series opener – was absolutely brilliant and honestly, I thought he was drunk as a skunk, which he wasn’t, but he was clearly a bit disorientated by the whole thing, which is my perfect state for a guest.
“It should feel like that – a slight party vibe. A tipple. We don’t want you lying backwards, dribbling into your waistcoat,” she said laughing.
“Chris was fabulous.”
She also told how she loved chatting to Today Show host Daithí O Se, who surprised her with his “devilment”.
“He is full of devilment. Before he sat on the couch, we were in the wings, he flashed me his manspanx and I thought there was no way I’m sitting opposite you on the show and not referring to those manky grey pants..
“Honestly people came up afterwards and was like ‘Jesus Daithi is great craic wasn’t he?’ It was so lovely,” she added.
She said she loves bringing out a different side to celebrities personalities that fans didn’t know about before.
Angela said she was looking forward to the show airing – but admitted she was “a bit apprehensive.”
“I’m excited and a bit apprehensive but mostly I finished with a yay. I’m trying to get in touch with the reality of the nerves but that’s fine. It’s part of the gig; I have to sometimes find a safe space, which may be a corner that I turned my back into a corner,” she said jokingly.
Angela Scanlon’s Ask Me Anything airs this Saturday on RTE One at 9:35pm.
