Angela Rayner has claimed Scots are being let down by the UK and Scottish Governments over the cost of living crisis.
The Labour party deputy leader spoke out as she visited an employee-owned nursery in Edinburgh today.
Rayner, MP for Ashton-under-Lyne, said Scots were being failed by "two governments missing in action". She was joined on the visit to the nursery by Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar.
Rayner said: "People in Scotland are being failed by two governments missing in action. The Tories are fighting among themselves while the SNP are obsessed with constitutional grievance – and both are failing to show up during a cost of living crisis.
"The SNP want to talk the talk of being a left wing party - but just like the Tories they are more interested in division than solutions.
"Time and time again, from childcare to social security, the SNP promise the world but don’t deliver, leaving people to pay the bills.
"We need a fresh start and a new government in Westminster – but only Labour can deliver that."
Rayner last night used an appearance at an Edinburgh Fringe talk show to claim her party would not do a deal with the SNP following the next general election.
"It’s not a possibility that we would work with the SNP – we want to win a majority,” she said.
Rayner added: “I don’t think the people of Scotland should leave behind the people of Ashton-under-Lyne, either.
"The poverty that we face is the poverty they face and we both need a Labour government in order to make the changes that we need to make, whether that’s in Scotland or in England.”
When asked about the likelihood of winning seats north of the border in the next election, Rayner said the party was “making progress” in Scotland.
SNP MSP Paul McLennan said: "This is yet more evidence of exactly why Labour has absolutely zero credibility in Scotland, as they continue to ignore the reality of what is going on in Scotland - whether it be disregarding the vital support the SNP is providing to households being let down by Westminster or standing in the way of the cast iron mandate for a referendum the people of Scotland gave the Scottish Government last May.
"Until Labour stop mimicking the Tories - from backing Brexit and defending Westminster’s erosion of devolution to helping the Tories into power in our councils and endorsing toxic Westminster cuts - they stand no hope of regaining the trust of the people of Scotland."
