Angel Reese’s historic double-double streak shakes up the WNBA Rookie of the Year race

Angel Reese made history on Thursday, earning her place in WNBA history books in no other way any rookie ever has.

If you’ve seen Angel Reese’s game by now, you know that it’s physical, but there’s a reason. The WNBA is that way and so are so many athletes who play in the post.  So, it’s not surprising that Reese shrugged off Alyssa Thoma’s flagrant foul weeks ago, and it’s not surprising that she has figured out how to be an impactful player by being a rebounding machine.

No, really. She’s seventh in the league for total rebounds and leads THE ENTIRE WNBA in offensive rebounds. If that wasn’t impressive, she made WNBA history Thursday, becoming the only rookie ever to have seven consecutive double-doubles. Angel Reese might have just played her way into Rookie of the Year conversations.

Update: Reese seemingly didn’t care about her historic record. She was just happy the Chicago Sky snapped their four-game losing streak.
