Angel Di Maria makes Lionel Messi prediction with "very big change" happening at PSG

Angel Di Maria has hinted that Paris Saint-Germain want Mauricio Pochettino to leave the club in a "big" summer of changes at the French giants.

The Argentina international has already confirmed he will depart PSG after seven seasons at the club, during which he scored 92 goals in 295 matches. He won Ligue 1 times, five Coupe de France titles and lifted the Coupe de la Ligue on four occasions. However, the 34-year-old failed to win the Champions League with the club despite reaching at least the semi-finals three times.

Although they cruised to another domestic title, last season was arguably Di Maria's and PSG's most disappointing in recent times. The attacking midfielder netted five goals and grabbed nine assists in 31 games as he struggled with injuries and illness throughout the campaign. Meanwhile, PSG were knocked out in the last 16 of the Champions League by Real Madrid and failed to win either of the domestic cups.

This has sparked rumours suggesting Pochettino could be replaced as PSG boss with Jose Mourinho 'considered' as one of the contenders to become their new manager. Di Maria admitted it "seems like they want the coach to leave" the club this summer, while he also claimed Lionel Messi will improve his numbers next season.

He told Marca : "It seems like they also want the coach to leave. There will be a very big change, but I think Messi knew how to understand it. It will help him to be much better next season. I think it will start very well because he ended up doing goals, giving assists, feeling very comfortable and adapting more and more."

He added: "There are other players who will surely leave. Mine was the easiest because they didn't have to renew me. On the one hand it hurt and on the other, no.

Who should PSG appoint as manager of Mauricio Pochettino leaves the club? Let us know in the comments below!

"I left in a very special way. It was an unforgettable night, that an Argentine in another country has a farewell like mine, not everyone does it. The affection of the PSG fan, the one behind the goal, is the most difficult thing to achieve. That I go outside, that they sing for me alone and having made a mural for me to sign are things that remain in the memory."

Di Maria also confirmed in an interview with TyC Sports, via 90min.com, that he does not know where his club future lies. Speaking after Messi scored five goals as Argentina thrashed Estonia on Sunday, he said: "I've got no ideas yet. I'm focused on the Argentine national team. We'll see what happens after the break.

"The main thing is that my family is well. I've already been to big clubs and my family have supported and followed me everywhere. I'm just looking for a place where they are happy and I feel happy. I will think about the national team right now, then about my holiday and only after that will I decide."
