Ange to Tottenham solves Harry Kane transfer puzzle but Celtic boss needs 'a lot of answers' from Daniel Levy

Tottenham have been told that Ange Postecoglou would solve any fears over Harry Kane leave the club this summer - due to the Celtic bosses trophy track record.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is facing a packed summer as he looks to appoint a new boss while trying to keep the England captain away from a switch to a Premier League rival with Kane’s contract only has 12 months to run. Reports suggest that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has made Kane a top striker target as they look to strengthen their squad this summer - and Kane will be desperate to start claiming silverware next term after a barren run for Tottenham.

Former Australia international and Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer reckons that a move for Postecoglou would keep Kane at the club - as he tipped the Celtic boss to turn Spurs into "contenders" for silverware should he make the move south of the border. Speaking to the GegenPod Schwarzer said: "I think for Harry Kane it's an interesting one.

"I just can't see for the life of me Daniel Levy allowing him to go to Chelsea. I would love to see him go to Chelsea and would be the perfect player they need.

"I think he is also the perfect player that Manchester United would need. I think that this is the time that Harry Kane has to put his foot down to leave the club, if he wants to go on and win trophies.

“However the flip side of that is someone like Ange Postecoglou going into the club, I actually think they’d be genuine contenders for trophies. At what level, straight away?

"Maybe not. But certainly giving him the right time, and the right framework, I think he could make Tottenham very competitive at the top end of the table.”

Fellow pundit Thomas Sorensen questioned if it was the right move to leave the Scottish Premiership with the likes of Feyenoord boss Arne Slot and former Bayern Munich gaffer Julian Nagelsmann knocking back interest from Levy. The Dane said: "Is it a stable enough environment for him to take the next step in his career?

"I think Tottenham have put themselves in a horrible pickle with managers available. They've already missed out on a couple. Nagelsmann didn't want to go and we saw the Feyenoord manager say he's not going.

"I wouldn't advise him in this situation because he definitely needs a lot of answers I think for him to take the job, but I really feel that Postecoglou could be a man that could finally turn Tottenham around."
