Ange the ditherer and desperado Tottenham are a mediocrity love match and Celtic should phone their ex – Hotline

Ange Postecoglou and the interest from Spurs is the huge point of discussion on today's Hotline.

The Celtic manager is preparing a squad for the Scottish Cup Final against Inverness Caley Thistle. However, although the Hampden tie is massive for the champions in terms of the Treble bid, most of the talk amongst the punters who contacted us is about Postecoglou and the potential of him departing for London once the game at the National Stadium is over.

Neil Renton, Edinburgh, said: “Spurs going for Celtic boss Postecoglou smacks of desperation.” Kenny Wilson, Mofffat, continued: “With the Ange to Spurs rumours gathering pace, I personally don’t think he is ready for as big a job in the EPL yet he needs to prove himself at Celtic in Europe first which I think he will do this season.

“We all know what the next rumours will be and that’s Brendan Rodgers coming back and, as much as he did the dirty on us, I would take him back in a heartbeat if Ange went.”

Alfie Mullin, London, said: “Postecoglou is sticking his cards close to his chest. He’d really consider the Spurs job if it is offered to him. I doubt if it will be. He’s already shown that he is only any good for Scottish football, no disrespect intended. I love my country, but our football is rubbish. He couldn’t cut it in Euro competition two seasons in a row. He has no chance in the EPL.

“I reckon his procrastinating will affect his team. He has not openly distanced himself from the Spurs job and his players will be wondering if he intends to be around next season. They will be worrying about their own futures. I can see an unlikely Caley Thistle win.”

Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, said: “As a Rangers fan, I don’t care if Ange joins Spurs or not. But he’s at a bigger club now, Spurs are a mid-table club in crisis with a chairman who is a control freak.”

Inverness and Celtic both declared themselves unhappy with Saturday’s 5.30pm kick-off time with Highlanders boss Billy Dodds feeling it has had an effect on his club’s ticket sales.

But Alan McPherson, Cullen, said: “Regarding Inverness not selling all their allocation of cup final tickets, sorry Billy, but blaming the kick-off time is no excuse. If your team is in a cup final, the kick off time is irrelevant. You just want to be there regardless. The sad truth is that Inverness is just not a football city.”

John Scott, Chesterfield, said: “Let’s all guess where the SFA bigwigs will be while the Inverness fans are on their £76.00 return train seats nearing Glasgow.

“Sitting in a Hampden lounge, sipping their gins and wolfing down their smoked salmon sandwiches, while watching the English Cup final. They should hang their heads in shame.”

Davy Matson sent an email which read: “Totally agree with Doods and I said it when the SFA announced it that Scottish football takes second place to English football. Why don’t Inverness and especially Celtic with all their clout refuse to play at this silly time.”

Celtic are overwhelming favourites to get the job done against their Championship opposition and Stephen Johnstone, Ardentinny, said: “Dodds says he has a secret weapon up his sleeve to beat Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final. Let’s hope it’s a hypnotist who makes them believe they are all the great Lisbon Lions of 1967.”
