Former Tottenham boss confident Ange is EPL bound as he reveals whispers about Celtic's leader

Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood is convinced Ange Postecoglou will be an English Premier League manager within 12 months.

And the 54-year-old has claimed someone has told him a move for the wildly-popular Celtic boss in the offing amid escalating links with the Tottenham job. Postecoglou is now the bookies' favourite to become the next permanent boss in north London with his work in Glasgow and beyond leading to admiring glances from Spurs supremo Daniel Levy.

And former Tottenham boss Sherwood – who was in charge of the team he played with for six months during the 2013/14 season – admits it may well be time for the former Australia national team boss to head for the English Premier League. Sherwood was asked if he reckoned that would happen imminently and, after pausing for thought on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast with William Hill, the pundit said: "Someone possibly told me something. I think he will be in the Premier League."

But that's not a verdict shared with Neil Lennon who is utterly convinced Postecoglou has more work to do in Glasgow's east end before he leaves as he stands on the verge of a Treble in his second season at the helm. He said: "No, he's got too much to do. He's still got a bit to do. I mean, if they (Celtic) win the cup then that's the Treble and would be fantastic for him.

"But I think he will want a crack at the Champions League and (try and get out the group). So I can't see him leaving Celtic within the year."
