Ange Postecoglou to Tottenham latest: Major breakthrough, Spurs boost, manager decision made

Tottenham Hotspur are still in search of their next permanent manager as chairman Daniel Levy looks to get the club back on track ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

A hugely disappointing season saw Spurs finish eighth whilst Antonio Conte was relieved of his managerial duties back in March. There is also a vacant role as director of football, following the exit of Fabio Paratici, with the successor likely to have a major say on transfers.

The latest name in the frame to take the head coach hot seat is Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou, who has impressed since arriving in Glasgow two years ago. With the Australian increasingly linked with a move to N17 this summer, here's a look at the latest we know regarding a potential switch.

Celtic informed

Postecoglou has told Celtic that he is wishes to become the next Tottenham manager, according to The Daily Mail.

It is claimed that Spurs are set to make a formal approach for the Australian on Monday after he made it clear to his superiors that he is interested in making the switch to N17.

The north London outfit now hope to progress a deal once they are granted permission and final talks can take place, with Celtic assistant John Kennedy potentially Postecoglou.

Talks scheduled

Tottenham have scheduled new talks with Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou over the vacant role of head coach, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Australian coach is still said to be Daniel Levy's preferred choice and new discussions will begin at the start of next week.

Decision made

Ange Postecoglou has emerged as the new preferred candidate to take over at Tottenham this summer, according to reports from Sky Sports. The coach has spent two-years with Celtic, looking to end this season with a potential treble with title and trophy wins to his name.

Celtic future

Ange Postecoglou has spoken out on his future as Celtic boss, claiming that he hasn't been cryptic over his next steps with the Scottish champions. Postecoglou addressed that claim, telling Sky Sports earlier this week: "I've been pretty straightforward [about the rumours], there's nothing cryptic in my messages.

"We've got one game to go. I'm not talking about next year until we win next week. That's our goal, we've got to win this cup. I'm not going to pass up the opportunity to do something special, to win a Treble.

"I know people have done it and greater things but I'm not going to look past that. I really want us to finish strong. It's not going to be an easy game, it's a cup final. We're determined to get it done."

Next manager hunt

The hunt for the next manager of Tottenham is ramping up, though there has been some complications so far for Levy in his attempt to secure an appointment. Julian Nagelsmann and Arne Slot have both been touted with moves but appear to be out of the running at this stage.
