Ange Postecoglou is desperate to combine the firepower of a fit-again Kyogo Furuhashi with Giorgos Giakoumakis as Celtic chase the Treble.
The Hoops gaffer wants all his frontmen bang on form as they attempt to wrestle the Premiership trophy back from Rangers and win the Scottish Cup.
He’s had to do without Kyogo for several weeks through injury but the Japanese star is now on the verge of a comeback.
Greek star Giakoumakis has proved an able deputy and hit a hat-trick against Ross County last week.
Postecoglou set out in the summer to create a squad capable of going the distance. And he can’t wait to finally get Giakoumakis and Kyogo in the same Celtic line-up, with a trio of Old Firm derbies on the horizon.
Ahead of next weekend’s league trip to Ibrox, he said: “For us in the run-in, once we have Kyogo fit and ready to go, having that depth is going to help us.
“Kyogo and Giako are different types of striker but they both have the characteristics we need.
“They’re hard workers, they work back defensively, but they’re also good finishers in the box. We will end up playing close to 60 games this season in four different competitions.
“I always knew that we’d need depth and these different types of players.
“The whole idea was to try and build a squad that was going to be robust and flexible - to face the different challenges we have.”
