Ange Postecoglou weighs in on Celtic and Rangers away allocation ban

Ange Postecoglou has conceded matches between Celtic and Rangers with split support make for a "better spectacle" when quizzed on the away fan lockout.

The Celtic boss stated he was not completely in the loop on the intricacies of the situation but is aware of the derby decision.

The Herald exclusively revealed that no away fans would be present at either Ibrox or Celtic Park in the remaining matches between the clubs this season.

After discussions between the clubs it was decided that the fixtures will be home fans only for the remainder of this term at least.

It's understood the decision to ban away supporters has now been taken in order to provide time to find solutions to sort out various arrangements at both stadia.

Postecoglou was quizzed on his take on the derby fan decision after his side's win over Hibs at Parkhead on Saturday.

He told Sky Sports: “I’m not totally across all the details. I'm sure the club’s handling that.

“I’ve said in the past that I think it makes for a better spectacle (with away fans).

"This decision has been made with, I guess, all the information at hand."

The Celtic boss then cited the upcoming Scottish Cup semi-final between the Glasgow rivals as an occasion to look forward to with a half-and-half split in support.

He added: "The beauty of it is that we’ve got a game at Hampden where it'll be 50–50. Let’s look forward to that.”

On the league win over Hibs, Postecoglou commented: “It just felt like a bit of a chaotic game, there was a lot going on on and off the field.

“Especially first half, we just couldn’t get any sort of rhythm or fluency and impose ourselves on the game like we wanted to. Having said that, we created some great chances. I mean David Marshall pulled off a couple of great saves and we hit the crossbar.

“But I thought second half we handled it a lot better, we stayed calm, kept our composure, made an impact when we needed to and guys coming on helped us get the result.”
