Ange Postecoglou Tottenham latest as Celtic Champions League caveat explained

Alan Stubbs reckons Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou will turn down a move to Tottenham in favour of Champions League football with the Hoops.

The Aussie has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs after it was revealed earlier this week that the club's No1 target Arne Slot pledged his future to Feyenoord.

Postecoglou has now been installed as the bookies' favourite for the role, but he has been tight-lipped over a potential move after lifting the Scottish Premiership title yesterday.

Former Celtic defender Stubbs believes the Hoops manager is determined to have another crack at the Champions League with his Glasgow outfit.

He told Grosvenor Sport: "Ange Postecoglou has been linked with a few jobs in England. It looks like Tottenham is the biggest one on the go right now and I have no doubt that Ange will feel he can do that job.

"I have a feeling he wants to achieve more at Celtic. Not just this season. He’s got two trophies in the bag and could win the treble.

"I think he wants another crack at the Champions League. I’m sure he’ll desperately want to improve on what they did this season. It’s the one area he will feel there are big improvements to be made."

Postecoglou savoured Celtic’s title party but insisted he needed no reinforcement of what his Parkhead role brings him.

“I don’t need any reinforcement, I feel it every day,” Postecoglou said. “I know it’s a special football club and I have had wonderful support from day one.

“I am enjoying it, I love being part of this football club but also I take the responsibility I hold very seriously.

“Days like today are about enjoying them, appreciating the great people I have got around me, the staff and my own family.

“These days are ones where you get the chance to appreciate what you have got. It’s a special day, we do trophy days well.”
