Ange Postecoglou 'surprise outsider' for Chelsea job as Celtic boss 'on shortlist'

Ange Postecoglou has been named on a shortlist of candidates to become Chelsea manager, according to a report.

It's claimed the Celtic manager is a "surprise inclusion" on a list of names being considered by chiefs at the Premier League club.

The Guardian report that Postecoglou is a possible candidate to make the jump to Stamford Bridge with the club "conducting a wide-ranging search" after Graham Potter was relieved of his duties.

The Australian boss, 57, is on track to lift a second Scottish Premiership title on the bounce and has lifted the League Cup twice during his tenure in Glasgow.

Postecoglou also caught the eye in Celtic's exploits in Europe this season with the club earning plaudits for performances in the Champions League group stage against Real Madird, Shakhtar Donetsk and RB Leipzig.

While the Celtic boss reportedly made the shortlist, it's thought Mauricio Pochettino is currently the preferred candidate for the Chelsea job.

Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is also reportedly an option with Feyenoord's Arne Slot another outsider for the position.

Chelsea have reportedly spoken to Luis Enrique and Ruben Amorim but the pair are not thought to be frontrunners for the job.
