Ange Postecoglou Spurs poser rejected by David Moyes in Celtic defence

David Moyes has dismissed any suggestions that Ange Postecoglou doesn't have what it takes to be a Premier League manager.

The West Ham United boss shut down a question posed after his side took on Tottenham in a pre-season friendly match in Australia.

The Scot was asked if the 57-year-old would be capable of handling the pressures that come with managing at Spurs after joining on a four-year deal last month.

And Moyes was quick off the mark to point out that Postecoglou handled the pressure of managing Celtic with no problem at all.

He emphatically responded: “He’ll never get more pressure than he did managing Celtic Football Club.

"Celtic Football Club are probably the third or fourth best-supported football club in the world, and if you manage Celtic Football Club, you’re used to pressure. So he’ll have no problem.”

On his conversations with the Aussie, Moyes added: “I was talking about how much (he) enjoyed Glasgow, because I’m from Glasgow and he had to live there, for an Aussie. I was talking about him moving to London, had he settled had he found a home yet etc.

"I was fortunate to play against him in Melbourne with Manchester United here a long time ago, and we played Celtic a couple of seasons ago in a pre-season friendly so I came across him then as well. It was good to catch up with him yesterday.”
