Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could become Tottenham's second summer departure with the midfielder strongly linked to Atletico Madrid. Harry Winks has already left the club to complete a £10million move to Leicester and Hojbjerg could be the next man to depart with Ange Postecoglou making his transfer plans clear.
The new Spurs boss has already made five permanent signings with Manor Solomon the latest to arrive on a free transfer. Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro were both on loan for the 2022/23 season but clauses in their respective contracts have been activated.
Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison are the remaining two purchases with Spurs now set to turn their attention onto recruiting in defence. Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba are the top two targets with a deal for the Netherlands international far more advanced than talks with Bayer Leverkusen for Tapsoba.
While the focus is on the back line, Postecoglou has a midfield dilemma that needs solving. The former Celtic boss aims to deploy a fluid 4-3-3 formation which will see a holding midfielder accompanied by two advanced No.8's, with Maddison set to be one.
The clear issues arise with regard to the base of the triangle as Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp and Yves Bissouma are all likely going to complete for the role. During his time at Brighton, Bissouma thrived in that position and therefore is expected to be given the nod with Skipp as his understudy.
This leaves Hojbjerg in a perilous position, but Postecoglou's transfer plan looks set to solve any problems. football.london understands Tottenham hold an interest in Chelsea star Conor Gallagher who is expected to exit Stamford Bridge this summer.

Now, The Telegraph are reporting that Spurs are eyeing Gallagher to replace Hojbjerg in a transfer that could cost up to £50million. Chelsea have already proven they are tough negotiators as they were able to get £60million from Manchester United for Mason, so a tough battle could be on the horizon for Spurs.
Due to the severity of Rodrigo Bentancur's knee injury suffered earlier this year, if signed, Gallagher could slot straight into the midfield alongside Bissouma and Maddison. Tanguy Ndombele has also returned to north London and could be offered the chance save his Spurs career by impressing Postecoglou in pre-season. Giovanni Lo Celso will also return but a permanent transfer back to Real Betis has already been discussed.
