Ange Postecoglou reveals Dominic Solanke debut plan as Tottenham boss issues Bayern verdict

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has revealed Dominic Solanke is in to make his debut for the club away at Leicester next week.

The striker sealed a club-record move to Spurs on Saturday and was unveiled in front of supporters before the 3-2 defeat to Bayern Munich.

Spurs have paid an initial £57m for the one-cap England international, £30m of which comes up-front and there is a further £3m to come by way of various add-ons.

The 26-year-old, who scored 19 Premier League goals last season, has signed a six-year contract and could be involved when Spurs begin their League campaign away at the Foxes on Monday 19 August.

Asked whether Solanke would play, Postecoglou responded: “I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be in a position to [play against Leicester]. He's done most of pre-season.

“He's had to work his way up and I always think that's a good thing.

“If it's all positive in their career, you wonder how they'll deal with set backs and he's had his quite early in his career and pushed on.”

When asked about the manner of the goals Spurs conceded against Bayern, two of which came from set-pieces, he added: “Yeah, they [the goals] weren't great.

“They were pretty ordinary, pretty similar to what we sort of conceded over there [in Korea]. But at the same time we're kind of not at that stage yet, of integrating people in, with a back four that's never played together before. I always kind of bear those things in mind. The key for us is to be ready come Monday week.”
