Ange Postecoglou reveals Celtic plans for Portuguese training camp during World Cup as 'Never Stop' mantra strikes again

Ange Postecoglou has revealed he'll have his Celtic stars training in Portugal during the later stages of the World Cup as he puts preparation plans in place for the second half of the season.

Postecoglou has been back home in Australia hyping up the Sydney Super Cup during the international break. His team return to action against on Saturday October 1 and face a gruelling 13-game stretch before the season goes on ice again for the Qatar World Cup.

The Parkhead stars won't get the chance to put their feet up though as just five days after they sign off against Ross County, they will be in action against Sydney FC Down Under as part of the Sydney Super Cup. They then face Everton on Sunday November 20 as part of a four-team tournament that has the Australian press eagerly anticipating a close-up look at Postecoglou and his team.

Speaking to radio station SEN though, Postecoglou says there won't be much rest even after that. He says he's taking a week off to watch some of the group stage action from Qatar with his family and friends - before jetting his players out to Portugal for a warm-weather training camp.

“It’s probably the only time I’ll have (after the Sydney Super Cup matches) within the next sort of period to get down to Melbourne and visit friends. I’ve got about another week off after those games. So, I’m gonna come down to Melbourne and just catch up with people and watch the games on the telly.

“And then we head back, cause we’ll go back straight after that and go straight into camp in Portugal, and get ready for the second half of the year. With the World Cup being smack bang in the middle, it means the programme either side of it is super congested.

"Not just for us, for all football clubs. So, we’re gonna get ready to go again.”
