Ange Postecoglou responds to Michael Beale title admission as Celtic boss makes no 'interest' claim

Ange Postecoglou insists he doesn't really pay any interest in title predictions as he responded to Michael Beale's 'low chance' admission.

The Celtic boss is gearing up for a big clash against Aberdeen on Saturday with the Hoops' nine-point advantage looking healthy heading in to a run of games including a crunch Viaplay Cup final next weekend with Rangers. It will be the first time the two sides have met in a final since 2019 with the Hoops unbeaten this season against their bitter rivals.

And while Beale made the admission that the probability of his side catching Celtic being 'low', Postecoglou is keen to avoid title forecasts and instead wants to focus on an Aberdeen side that will present a challenge.

When asked if it was interest or surprising to hear Beale say that, he said: “Neither mate. I haven’t heard the comments but I think your original point is probably the most accurate that I don’t really pay an interest to it."

He added: "It is always a challenge when you are meeting a team with a new manager.

“Barry has had a couple of games, in the first game they had a man sent off really early and they had a good result and a good performance in the last game. They had a weekend off which means he has had a chance to work with the team so we have to be ready for that.

“We know that at their best, they are a good side. They have some good individual players that can hurt you, particularly in an attacking sense so we have to be ready for it but at the same time, our form has been pretty good for quite a while now and particularly at home.

“If we start the game well and play to our tempo, we know we will be hard to stop.”

Beale said: “If you looked at probability, the probability is low because the games are running out. I think we are in very, very good form, so Celtic are also therefore in very, very good form and their form has run longer than ours. So you would say it is outstanding form.

“What I would say is momentum can change things in football, and all we have to do is keep doing our job and hope the momentum changes. If it doesn’t, we still have to win games for Rangers and build our team stronger for the cup competitions and what is to come.”
