Ange Postecoglou Provides Update On Rodrigo Bentancur

Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on Rodrigo Bentancur after the Tottenham star’s worrying injury during their Carabao Cup victory over Liverpool.

Bentancur landed awkwardly on the floor and laid motionless on the ground after going for a header from a Tottenham corner. The incident happened just five minutes into the first-leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.

There was swift medical response with treatment lasting nine minutes before he was taken off on a stretcher.

Bentancur posted an update in the early hours of Thursday morning from the hospital bed in which he was smiling with his fiancee Melany La Banca by his side.

Alongside the picture he wrote: “All good, guys! Thank you for the messages!!! Congratulations for the victory boys!!!”

Tottenham beat Liverpool 1-0 which gives them an early advantage in their two-legged Carabao Cup semi-final tie.

Postecoglou Provides Update On Rodrigo Bentancur

Ahead of Tottenham’s FA Cup third-round game at non-League Tamworth on Sunday, Ange Postecoglou provided an update on Rodrigo Bentancur.

The Australian revealed that the midfielder was now at home but would miss a couple of weeks of football after suffering what is believed was a concussion.

“Good news, thankfully. He was in the hospital and they did all the tests, just checking everything’s okay, and all good. He’s back home and he’s fine, he’s feeling good.

“We’ll follow protocols now and it’s a couple of weeks where you just have to make sure everything’s okay. Thankfully it looks like a concussion but nothing more.

“It’s always distressing. You saw for Pedro (Porro) who was the first one there and kind of knew that it was a distressing situation.

“I thought the lads handled it well and the medical team handled it well, and thankfully all good.”

Though the update was largely positive, it means that he is set for another spell on the sidelines. He could now face another spell on the sidelines, having already missed eight matches through suspension this season.

The Liverpool game was his first back after serving a one-match suspension for picking up five bookings this season.

Not long before that he missed seven-games after he was banned for the use of an alleged racial slur towards team-mate Son Heung-min during a TV interview in Uruguay.
